Herriman Fire Aftermath

Here are some pictures the day after the big fire in Herriman. Most of it is pretty well contained, but there were still some hot spots they were a little worried about.

Remember this house?

It actually survived, thanks to decent clear space around it, and active firefighting:

Several helicopters could be seen filling up their buckets at a nearby reservoir, and dumping them on the fire.

Hummers with guardsmen patrolled the streets:

Luckily we survived the long night without being evacuated. We had stuff packed and ready to go just in case they gave the order. The evacuation area actually ended only a couple of blocks away from where we live. The orange area is the mandatory evacuation zone.

The fire came down into the brush area to the left of the reservoir you can see in the photo.

Pretty crazy and scary stuff. Thanks to all of those who were praying for us and everyone in the area. Hopefully we don't have to go through anything like that again ever.
